Tips for searching
In order to find a specific product that fulfills all your research requirements genomics-online offers you a search function with extensive filtering options. The best way to go about searching a product is to start by choosing the product category or entering the gene name. By the way, for searching it is not relevant if you use lower or upper case letters.
The initial search results can be refined by filtering in accordance to your needs. If you for example search for a mitochondrial DNA Isolation kit, you can simply filter for kits as product type, isolation as application and then select the filter “mitochondrial” for the binding specificity. By the way, there is a pre-selection function of our product types in the drop-down menu next to the search field.
My product search yields too many results, what can I do?
You can reduce the number of found products by setting filters, which you may find left of the search results.
For example, searching for cDNA plasmids you may select the desired species (host), which application you plan to perform, which vector and vector backbone the cDNA plasmid should have and many more. The filter selection reduces the amount of products significantly to the ones that are most suitable for you.
My product search yields too few results, what can I do?
Please check that no filters were set by mistake. If this is the case, simply remove the filters that are not absolutely crucial for your experiment or application. Please try to use more general search terms if applicable. For example, when searching for cloning kits it is advisable to only search for the name, and not to enter additional criteria.
Is the spelling important when searching?
While our search is not case-sensitive spelling of the search terms can be crucial. When using Greek letters we recommend trying different spelling. The prefix “alpha-“ for instance can also be used as “a-“.
