More and more companies and research institutions are using procurement systems to automate and optimize their ordering processes. At genomics-online, we offer the ability to efficiently connect your procurement system to our shop. We support two common standards for this integration: OCI (Open Catalog Interface) and cXML (Commerce XML). Both interfaces offer different functionalities to seamlessly integrate the ordering process into your system.
Integration with OCI (Open Catalog Interface)
The OCI protocol is used by many common procurement systems, such as SAP Ariba, and provides a direct connection between your procurement system and our online shop. This so-called Punchout functionality allows users to select products directly from our webshop and transfer the shopping cart to their internal system.
The OCI process works as follows:
- The user starts shopping in their procurement system and uses Punchout to access our shop.
- The desired products are selected, and the shopping cart is filled in our shop.
- The filled shopping cart is transferred back to the company’s procurement system, where the order is processed further.
Limitations of OCI: OCI only offers Punchout functionality, meaning that the order itself is finalized within your procurement system, and no further updates, such as shipping information or invoices, can be transmitted directly via the system.
Integration with cXML (Commerce XML)
For a more comprehensive integration, we offer support for cXML (Commerce XML). This interface goes beyond Punchout functionality and allows for complete automation of the ordering process, including:
- Punchout: Similar to OCI, users can access our shop directly from the procurement system and transfer the shopping cart to the internal system.
- Order transmission: Orders can be transmitted directly from the procurement system to genomics-online via cXML.
- Invoice transmission: We send invoices in cXML format directly to your system.
- Shipping updates: After an order is shipped, we can provide updates on order positions and delivery times (ETA) to your system.
With cXML, you get a full solution that digitizes and automates the entire ordering and fulfillment process.
Product Catalog Updates and API Integration
In addition to Punchout and order processing, we offer the following options for managing product catalogs:
- Product Catalog Updates: We can regularly provide updated product catalogs, ensuring you always have access to current product information and pricing.
- API Integration: Alternatively, we can integrate via API into your self-hosted product catalog. This allows for dynamic synchronization of our product data with your internal system, ensuring real-time updates and availability of new products.
Benefits of Integration
Integrating a procurement system with our shop offers you numerous advantages:
- Efficiency: Reduce manual steps and errors through automated processes.
- Transparency: Track orders and deliveries in real time without additional communication via email or phone.
- Cost savings: Automation reduces administrative costs and ensures a smooth process from ordering to invoicing.
